Notes - WILLIAM FRANKLIN ASKINS
ANGIER - William Franklin Askins died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Oak Assisted Living Center in Angier.
Frank Askins, 85, was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, to Sally and M.K. Askins.
He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, having been a member of that institution's first graduating class. He was retired from John Umstead Hospital in Butner where he was director of chaplain's services for more then 30 years.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robin, John, Andy and Marion. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Swann Askins of the home: by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Nadine of Zebulon, Hal and Dendy of Fuquay-Varina, Charles of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and foster son, J.E. Brendle of Raeford; granddaughters, Dana(and Brendan) Addis of Denver, Lauren(and Chris) Miller of Zebulon and Laura Askins of Chapel Hill; two great-granddaughters, Stella Addis and Sydney Miller; one Great-grandson, Ayden Miller; and sister-in-law, Mary Askins of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A memorial service conducter by Dr. David Vellenga will be held on Sunday, October 21, at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.
